We all know what general hygiene is. We even do our best to practice emotional hygiene. But there might be another type of hygiene that isn’t as well-known?

Just like our own life, our iPad’s lifespan has to do with the good and bad habits we develop during usage. Accepting a cookie here, an unused app there; seemingly insignificant actions we take over months can pile up and cause long-term issues to your device.

But all is not lost! By being aware of the most common iPad maintenance mistakes, you can instantly put your iPad on the road to recovery instead of turning it into very expensive scrap metal!

So here are 5 mistakes many people make with their iPads along with their solutions.

    ROM Clutter

For many of us, our iPad is an extension of ourselves. We most our entire lives running off our devices. From pictures to dozens of apps that occupy gigs of space, so much information has to be stored somewhere!

Full internal memory can lead to many issues like crashing apps, your iPad restarting unnecessarily, or worst-case scenario, device burnout!

The solution to this is a regular “spring clean” of your device. Valuable information could be stored elsewhere, like a cloud service or an external hard drive. Delete any apps or information that you have forgotten about or is not important.

Regular iPad maintenance of internal memory can have a huge effect on the longevity of your device.

    RAM Clutter

Often, an iPad may be running slow or clunky simply because its RAM is overworked. If we view the RAM as the iPad’s ability to multitask, leaving dozens of apps open unnecessarily will obviously slow down its reaction time.

Two major solutions are to make sure to close all apps after use. make it a goal to check regularly whether there are any lingering programs in the background 3 or 4 times a day.

Another option is restarting your iPad or turning it off at night. A good night’s sleep will ensure that your device is sharp as a tack!

    Cache and Cookie Clutter

Cookies can be useful when they are working in your favor. The problem is that cookies are everywhere! Again, they all have to go somewhere. The more we surf the net, the more cookies we may accept and the more storage they cost.

You’d be astounded at the number of unnecessary cookies you may have stored on your device.

A simple solution is to regularly clear your browsing data in your safari settings. You will have to reenter some saved passwords, but it’s definitely worth the trouble.

    Battery Treatment

Not caring for the battery can have some of the most damaging effects on your device. Batteries for iPad are pricey to replace, so do your utmost to protect them.

Make sure to charge when necessary. Avoid extreme temperatures. Keep the IOS updated at all times. Many fixes contribute to the battery’s performance. Above all, always use an Apple-certified charger.

    Physical Treatment

Taking care of the outside of the iPad is not to be overlooked. A damaged screen or socket can again be a costly endeavor. Invest in quality iPad cleaning tools and make sure that your device has a space in your house away from environmental hazards like liquids and extreme temperatures.

iPad mounting is one sure-fire way of protecting your device from physical damage.

iPad Maintenance Mistakes a Thing Of the Past

Nowadays, tablets are such an intrinsic part of our lives that we forget that these devices are not eternal. A lot of the device’s lifespan is dependant on we treat it. Just like our life, regular iPad maintenance is based on daily habits.

So let’s do our best to make iPad maintenance mistakes a thing of the past!
