5 Common MacBook Problems and Solutions

If you’re lucky enough to have a Mac, then you probably know that you get to avoid many of the problems that plague Windows users. From a clunky UI to (many) viruses, Macs come with a plethora of benefits that help them stand out.

That said, they’re not perfect, and after a while, even the biggest Apple fans may start to experience different MacBook problems.

Today we’re going to look at five of the most common MacBook issues that users often face. We’ll also discuss how to resolve the issues to ensure that you get your computer back to working order.

    Read on to learn more.

    1. Poor Battery Life

Do you find that your computer’s battery depletes faster than in the past? While it could be general age, you might also have too many applications open in the background.

Open up your MacBook’s Activity Monitor to see which programs are running and how much battery they’re using. From there, you should be able to tell what the problem is.

    2. Flickering Screen

Do you notice that your screen is starting to flicker? If you do, it’s usually due to incompatibility issues between the graphics processing unit (GPU) and the operating system (OS).

Ensure that your OS is running on the latest and newest version. In addition to often helping solve any incompatibility issues, updating your computer allows you to take advantage of better security, bug fixes, and new features.

    3. Loud Fans

Struggling to hear what your friends or coworkers are saying over the roar of your computer?

Recheck Activity Monitor to see which programs are running. An app may be using excessive memory, so closing it might do the trick.

You might also need to take your computer to a service shop — dust may be preventing its fans from running correctly.

    4. General Slowdowns

If you start to experience general lag and slowdowns, it could stem from one or more problems. These include:

    • Not having enough disk space
    • Having a Desktop with too many files
    • Using an older version of the OS

Check to ensure that none of those issues are currently affecting your MacBook.

    5. Slow Internet

Laggy internet often stems from your wireless connection, not your computer. However, if you’re confident that the connection isn’t to blame, try restarting your computer and disconnecting from Bluetooth to get faster speeds.

If your hard drive crashes, slow internet will be the least of your concerns. Check out Lifeguard Data Recovery for help ensuring you have a protection plan in place!

    MacBook Problems Begone

While Macs are great computers, they can still experience issues from time to time. When that happens, you want to ensure that you can resolve whatever pops up.

Use this guide to help you solve whatever MacBook problems you face.
