Did you know that in 2020 National Parks received 237 million recreational visits? While this number is lower than previous years, that’s only because of temporary closures due to the pandemic.
As the world is opening back up and people are beginning to explore again, outdoor activities are an excellent choice for you and the kids. If you’re tired of being cooped up and ready to hit the road, we have some tips to help you get the most out of your trips.
Keep reading to find out what you need to prepare for your next outdoor family adventure.
One: Camping Gear
Make the most out of your adventure by turning it into a family camping trip. Family camping gives you the chance to get your kiddos to disconnect from the digital world and just be kids.
Make sure you pack a tent and camp stove for your trip to truly be a success. Not into sleeping on the ground? That’s okay; if you plan to make family camping trips a regular thing, consider a Fuzion 5th Wheel.
An RV or 5th wheel gives you the opportunity to get out in nature while still having some basic conveniences. There are also a ton of free places you can park when visiting National Parks or other sites.
Two: A Sturdy Backpack
When you’re outdoors, you will need a way to carry items throughout the day. Mom’s you know that your kids (including your spouse) might try and hoist items they don’t want to carry off onto you.
You can just put it in your purse, right? During an outdoor trip having a sturdy backpack is a great idea. You can even make sure everyone has one.
This will allow everyone to carry their own family vacation supplies and is more convenient than a purse if you’re out hiking.
Three: Water Bottles
Don’t let your outdoor family trips get ruined by dehydration. Make sure you pack water bottles for everyone.
If you struggle to get your kiddos to drink water, consider packing some water-flavoring packets as well. This is a great way to get them to drink water and stay hydrated, and the packets are light.
Four: First Aid Kit
Don’t forget to pack a first aid kit with the basics. If someone falls and scrapes a knee or gets stung, you’ll be glad you have it.
If there are any allergies, be sure to include an EpiPen in the first aid kit. Also, include sunscreen, triple antibiotic, bug spray, and hydrocortisone cream.
Five: A Change Of Clothes And Shoes
Whether you’re on a weekend trip or a day trip, pack extra clothes and sturdy shoes. If you’re hiking and get wet or muddy, you’ll want to change.
You don’t want to run out of clothes during your trip due to unexpected incidents.
