With more than 3.5 billion Google searches every day, SEO is a marketing method that you can’t afford to ignore. Traditional marketing takes a lot of money to keep working. Once you get on Google, you get free search engine traffic for as long as you maintain your rankings.

Unfortunately, it isn’t always simple to rank high on Google. Follow the four tips below to increase website traffic and give the Google algorithm what it wants.

    1. Improve Your Site’s SEO

Google’s algorithm has gotten good over the years. However, it still isn’t perfect. Sometimes it needs help to figure out what your website is about and where it should rank on the search results.

Optimizing your on-page search engine optimization is how you do this. Look at your meta-information to see how well it describes the content on every page. If it doesn’t do an excellent job telling Google your keywords and topic, it’s hard for Google to understand where to rank your content.

    2. Check Your User Experience

Content isn’t the only thing that matters for SEO these days. Google takes the user experience seriously. It wants its users to have a great viewing experience, no matter what website they visit.

If your website is slow and looks terrible, that isn’t going to happen. Google can detect this by looking at your site speed and metrics. If people aren’t finding value on your site and sticking around, the chances are good that Google will drop you from the rankings.

If you need help optimizing your user experience, contact an SEO company to get the help you need.

    3. Try to Get Featured Snippets

You don’t have to rank number one for a keyword to get the top spot on Google anymore. Search engines place featured snippets at the top o the search results to provide users quick answers. Those snippets aren’t always from the number one result.

If you optimize your website for featured snippets, you can get the top spot without being at the top of that page. While not all of that traffic will click through to your website, you’ll still get more visitors than not being up there at all.

    4. Build Backlinks

Content isn’t enough if you try to rank in a competitive industry. Even though Google can categorize content better these days, it’s hard to know how to rank websites if there is a lot of great content for a topic.

That’s where backlinks come into play. A backlink will pass authority to your website and make it more valuable to Google. You can start ranking for more competitive keywords when you get enough powerful backlinks.

Now You Know What it Takes to Rank High on Google

You can only get so far by producing a ton of content on your website if you want to rank high on Google. You need to prove to the search engine that your website is worth visiting and gives search engine users what they want. Make sure to follow the tips above if you want to increase your Google ranking.

Of course, Google isn’t your only option if you want more traffic to your website. Check out the latest articles on this blog to see other digital marketing tactics you can use.
