Whether you’re traveling to Dubai for tourism, business, or to join family, it’s important to track the status of your visa to avoid last-minute complications. Fortunately, the UAE government offers multiple ways to check your visa status online using official platforms. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of checking your Dubai visa status in a quick, simple, and secure way.

tep 1: Identify Where Your Visa Was Issued
Dubai is part of the UAE but has its own immigration authority—GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs). If your visa was issued in Dubai, you should check your status using GDRFA platforms. If your visa was issued from other emirates like Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, or Ajman, you will need to use the ICP (Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship) platform.
For Dubai-issued visas, follow the steps below.
Step 2: Use the GDRFA Dubai Website
- Visit the official GDRFA Dubai website:
https://www.gdrfad.gov.ae - Navigate to the “Visa Status” or “File Validity” section (under e-Services).
- Select the service type: Residence Visa, Entry Permit, etc.
- Enter the following information:
- Visa Application Number or File Number
- First Name (as per passport)
- Nationality
- Date of Birth
- Complete the captcha and click Search.
- Your visa status, approval stage, and validity period will be displayed on the screen.
Step 3: Check via the GDRFA Mobile App
You can also use the GDRFA Dubai App, available for Android and iOS. Once installed:
- Open the app and go to “Visa Status Inquiry.”
- Enter your passport number or file number.
- Fill in other required details like nationality and date of birth.
- Tap Submit to view the visa status.
This method is convenient for those who prefer checking from a mobile device.
Step 4: Use the DubaiNow App
The DubaiNow app offers an all-in-one service hub for Dubai residents and visitors. To check your visa:
- Download the app and create an account.
- Navigate to Residency Services → Visa Inquiry.
- Enter your personal and visa information.
- Submit and view your visa details instantly.
Step 5: For Other Emirates (Use ICP Portal)
If your visa was issued outside Dubai:
- Go to: https://smartservices.icp.gov.ae
- Choose “File Validity” or “Passport Information.”
- Enter your passport number, nationality, and expiry date.
- View your visa status and expiry.
