    Yes, you must have a parking space before getting a charger installed. While you are buying an EV, you should then only settle for a parking space to make parking easier. For a home electric car charger, too, you would need an area where you can comfortably charge your EV.

    While you’re settling for a parking space, you should also make sure the area has the necessary sockets and electricity. It would help if you made certain space has all the requirements an EV parking and charging space should have.

    In case you don’t have any parking space available with you, you should switch for portable or swappable batteries. However, it would be best if you made that decision before you buy an EV. If you have already bought one, you would need to have a designated parking place where you can install the charging system.

    Aside from that, while deciding on a charging space, refer to a professional. These professionals can let you know about the requirements of an EV charger. It is recommended you get these requirements fulfilled beforehand, so you don’t have to face any problems or disruptions later.

    What are the different types of chargers?

    The other thing you need to take into consideration is the types of charger present in the market. Since all EVs are different and have distinct needs, they require different chargers. So, before getting your EV charger installed, you should find out the type of charger you need.

    Here are the types of chargers that you can learn about:

    Type 1 AC Charger: This type of charger can charge your EV through the socket of your air conditioner. However, the process is really slow. While using a type 1 charger, you can expect the power to level up to 220 volts and a maximum of 16 amps of current.

    Type 2 Charger:
    Type 2 charger is faster than Type 1. These chargers work with three-phase input power systems. Thus, they are compatible with AC and DC charging systems. Further, you can use these chargers with vehicles with a Combined Charging System. Most people get these types of chargers installed for their EVs.

    GB/T type chargers: You can expect an output of 15 kW for EVs with lower power while using GB/T type chargers. These chargers are known for their fast charging capabilities and compatibility with DC charging systems.

    Many of these charging systems come with locks to avoid the threat of theft. Moreover, apart from the Type 1 chargers, these chargers can determine the amount of current needed to charge the vehicle.

    Advantages of owning an EV

    There are several advantages of owning an EV. Some of them are:

    • Compared to their use and advantages, the cost of owning an EV is comparatively low. Thus, an EV can save you money.
    • An electron vehicle reduces emission. Therefore, creating a better environment to live in.
    • They provide greater diversity in fuel choices available for transportation.

    EVs have looked promising on the environment factor. Since you can charge these vehicles like smartphones, they help in cutting down fuel. Moreover, you can charge these vehicles through solar energy, and developers have been working on a more environmentally friendly measure for EV charging. In addition to that, EVs also limit emission and thus, they add to a relatively healthy environment.
