    Recruitment in itself has many layers. It is a cycle in itself. Recruitment definition included various functions starting from the requirement of more hands in an organization. The workforce serves as fuel for any organization directly affecting the profits and loss. It is essential for the organizations to pay sincere attention towards recruitment. It ensures that the organization has bestowed the responsibilities in the eligible hands. 

    Let’s discuss the essential elements of recruitment and tips to implement effective recruitment process:

    What is recruitment?

    Recruitment definition begins with the requirement of more employees to increase the workforce of an organization. The recruitment procedure involves various layers that includes identifying the hiring needs, posting job descriptions on outsourcing platforms, application tracking, scheduling interviews, applicant assessment, background verification and onboarding. The aim of recruitment is to hire compatible candidates for the organization that can assist in increasing the workforce of the organization. Recruitment can be classified into several types. 

    Here is a classification of different types of recruitment :

    Internal recruitment 

    An organization comprises of numerous employees. Organizations have policies that allow the existing employees to apply for the suitable vacancy in the same organization. It empowers the employee to opt for the field they are interested in. It allows the employee to continue working with the same organization in the field the employee wants to work for. For instance, if an employee is working in a sales team but is interested in working for a marketing department. The employee can internally apply for the available position in the organization. Such transition assists the employee to easily change his/her field of interest in the same organization.

    Retained recruitment

    Organizations tend to opt for recruiting firms to fill the vacancies. They pay an upfront fee to the recruiting firms to employ the eligible candidates for the organization. The recruitment firms work exclusively for the organization. Organizations are not allowed to hire multiple recruiting firms to fill the same position available in the organization. 

    Contingency recruitment

    Contingency recruitment requires outside firms. Unlike retained recruitment, contingency recruitment does not charge any upfront fee from the organization. Instead such recruitment companies receive payments when their client is hired by any organization.

    Staffing recruitment 

    Staffing agencies work for staffing agencies. Staffing agencies usually focus on matching qualified applicants with available job openings. These agencies typically work on hiring employees for short term roles or temporary employment. 

    Outplacement recruiting 

    Outplacement recruitment assists the former employees transition into new jobs. It is designed to assist the employee with resources to find new opportunities. Outplacement recruitment is sponsored by employers as a benefit program. 

    Reserve recruitment

    Reserve recruitment refers to the process where an employee is encouraged to seek employment with various organizations that offer opportunity to function in accordance with the skill set the employee possesses. 

    Tips to implement effective recruitment

    Look internally before outsourcing

    It has been witnessed that an organization has existing employees who are interested in changing for different fields. As existing employees are aware of the organizations policies and are already contributing to the organization. Thereby it is reasonable to expect that they will excel in the new role. 

    Reach out to “passive” candidates

    It has been observed that ideal candidates are not looking for jobs. It is highly encouraged that the employees visit conferences and associate with the organization, social media platforms such as linkedin for strong resumes of the candidates who are not looking for a job. Another aspect of passive recruitment is encouraging your employees to refer friends they know who are eligible for the role available in the organization.
