    What is Meatless Monday? Meatless Monday, also known as the “Vegan Monday” is a worldwide campaign that encourages folks to not only not eat red meat on Mondays, but also to substitute other healthier meats for that special treat. Sounds good, right? It is, as long as you know how to prepare your food.

    There is no doubt that having reduced meat consumption can have amazing health benefits, particularly in the prevention and treatment of heart disease and other types of diseases involving high cholesterol and fatty tissue in the body. A reduction in meat consumption has also been shown to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which are a leading cause of global warming. Not only that, but reducing meat consumption has been shown to lower your risk of common forms of cancer such as colon cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer.

    While there is nothing wrong with having a little red meat here and there, eliminating it from your diet completely is probably a bit extreme. So, what is the best way to prepare meals that don’t taste like steak or bacon? Easy, just cook vegetables instead! Many quick and easy recipes for vegetarian or meatless Mondays include things like baked beans, marinated vegetables, and even a great salad bar can help create a meatless Monday that tastes like a vegetarian feast one day per week. If someone is interested in lowering their cholesterol levels or simply to stay fit and healthy, eating less meat and more fresh fruits and vegetables can make all the difference. In fact, for people with heart disease, Meatless Monday meal plans are designed specifically around the diet. They work to make the most out of their limited meat consumption and to keep their cholesterol intake under control.The second reason this diet is such a success is because the resources for it are readily available and effortless to get hold of. If anything, it is important to remember that just because you aren’t eating meat doesn’t mean you can’t have your favorite foods.
