Canada is a country of beautiful landscapes. Its healthcare and education system, safe environment, and quality of life make it more appealing to immigrants.

The Saskatchewan province is one of the most beautiful places in Canada. The culture is vibrant, and the people are friendly. Saskatchewan is rich in natural resources and offers many job opportunities. No wonder there is a race to move to Saskatchewan as a permanent resident?

This post will help us understand the Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program, the best way to gain Saskatchewan provincial nomination. Along the way, we will look at the various ways the SINP helps you immigrate to the province.

What is the Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP)?

The SINP is Canada’s most popular provincial nominee program. It is also considered to be a stepping stone to Canadian permanent resident status. The SINP empowers the Saskatchewan province to nominate candidates for permanent residency under the following three broad categories:

    1. International Skilled Worker
    2. Saskatchewan Experience
    3. Business Immigration

These main categories are further divided into several sub-categories that we will look at and understand in a moment.

    1. International Skilled Worker Category

The international skilled worker category offers the following ways to immigrate to the province.

    Employment Offer

It is for skilled workers who land a job offer in Saskatchewan. Under this sub-category, candidates from both outside Canada or with proof of legal status are eligible.

Requirements Under the Employment Offer Category

    • A score of 60 or above on the SINP assessment grid
    • At least one year experience in the intended occupation (last ten years)
    • A minimum language score of CLB 4
    • Appropriate licensure in Saskatchewan. A certificate from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission in case of skilled trade
    • Offer of full-time or permanent employment in Saskatchewan in a NOC A, B, 0, or a designated trade
    • Valid SINP job approval letter

    Occupation in Demand

It is for skilled workers who qualify for an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan but do not have a job offer.

Apart from the ones listed above, the additional requirements that apply under this sub-category include:

    • A one-year post-secondary education, training, or apprenticeship equivalent to the Canadian education system. Degrees and diplomas obtained outside Canada are subject to an Educational Credential Assessment.
    • Proof of settlement funds and settlement plan
    • A non-refundable $300 application fee

    Saskatchewan Express Entry

It is for those skilled workers interested in living and working in Saskatchewan. These workers are also included in the Federal Express Entry Pool.

Apart from all the ones listed above, the additional requirements that apply under this sub-category include:

    • A profile in the Express Entry Pool
    • A one-year experience in a skilled profession (last ten years). Two years’ experience in a skilled trade (last five years). One year experience in Canada (last three years). Experience working in a highly-skilled occupation not included in the excluded occupation list.

    2. Saskatchewan Experience Category

The Saskatchewan work experience category is further divided into the following sub-categories:

    • Skilled workers with existing work permit
    • Semi-skilled agricultural workers with existing work permit
    • Health professionals, including physicians and nurses
    • Hospitality sector pilot projects
    • Long-haul truck drivers
    • Students

The list of requirements under each of the above sub-categories is endless. Unfortunately, it would not be possible for us to list all of them due to space constraints. Most requirements are universal. We recommend you connect with an experienced ICCRC registered consultant for additional details.

    3. Business Immigration

The Business Immigration category offers the following ways to immigrate to the Saskatchewan province.

    Entrepreneur Stream

Under this scheme, applicants and their families can start or partner in an existing business in Saskatchewan. They must reside in the province and actively engage in managing the business.

The Entrepreneur Stream process involves the following three steps:

    • Expression of interest
    • Invitation to submit an application
    • Nomination

There are various steps involved and conditions to be fulfilled before you are eventually nominated. For a detailed list, please get in touch with your nearest ICCRC registered consultant.

    International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

Under this scheme, help is extended to international students graduating from partner Saskatchewan institutions. They are allowed to stay back as entrepreneurs and attract business investment.

The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream process involves the following four steps:

    • Expression of interest
    • Invitation to submit an application
    • Establishing a business
    • Nomination

    Farm Owners/Farm Operators Stream

This scheme is for experienced farming professionals who want to buy and run a farm in Saskatchewan. Even young farmers looking to establish a farming business in Saskatchewan are eligible to apply under this stream. Those who successfully meet all conditions are handed over permanent resident status. If the PR application is under process, individuals can obtain a temporary work permit to enter Saskatchewan.

    Final Words

As you can figure, immigrating to Saskatchewan is not easy. The Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program offers an excellent immigration opportunity. However, the process is time-consuming, expensive, and requires one to satisfy several conditions.
