Did you know that 45% of businesses end up closing their doors after only being in business for five years? If you are on a mission to stay out of this statistic and are using Sitecore to help you level up your business, you are in the right place. We have put together the top Sitecore tips and tricks to help you be even more efficient when you are using Sitecore CMS.

Keep reading to learn the best Sitecore performance tips out there.

    1. Scheduling

You might not be aware that there are scheduling reminders that you can take advantage of. Whether you are looking to remind yourself to update an item on a certain date or a reminder about launching a campaign, you can do it directly from the content editor.

Simply navigate to Content Editor then choose Review and then click the Reminder Button. There you can set the date, time, email address, and message. This simple Sitecore implementation will ensure that you never forget to take care of everything that is important.

    2. Translate

Many people do not know that there is a Translation button available within Sitecore’s tools. There is integration within Sitecore with a translation service where you can see a side-by-side view of the content pieces you are looking at. Keep in mind that if you use the translation service, you will have to pay per translation.

Or if you want to save money, you can navigate through each content tree and then you can manually translate each content as needed.

    3. Reset

Whenever you get to a point where you feel everything is too cluttered or you have way too many changes to make there is a simple way to reset everything. Going this route will bring everything back to its original design.

Go to Content Editor then Presentation and click Reset Button.

    4. Cloning

If you need certain content to exist in more than one place there are two ways to copy these items in the content tree. You can choose to clone where it makes a double of the item you choose. This option means that you can change pieces of the parent item as you please and the changes will show up on the clone automatically.

You can also make changes to the clone item and then make changes on the parent item but the parent item changes will not affect the clone item changes you did first. We highly recommend opting for cloning when you need more than one copy because you do not have to worry about making edits in each piece only on the parent content.

Another choice is to duplicate items in Sitecore. Going this route will make a double of the item of choice but the duplicate will not have a relationship with the parent item. In other words, if you make an edit to the parent item then you will have to manually go in and change the duplicate content because it will not automatically edit it.

    5. Archive Date

Next to the Reminder Wizard in the Review Tab, you will find an Archive Wizard button. This will allow you to archive your item of choice after a certain date. This is great for content editors or marketers that want to create content and then set it to automatically archive itself once it is used.

This will help keep things organized and clutter to a minimum. Whenever you have specific campaign dates, this feature will be perfect if you want to archive the pieces of content related to that campaign because they will not be used in the near future.

Whenever you archive the item, you are not deleting it. This means that if you ever have to use it again you can easily bring it back.

    6. Preview

As easy way to lose your audience is with mistakes. Once a client or potential client notices a typo or something not right they will get distracted and begin to look for other mistakes instead of focusing on what you are showing them. This is why you want to preview content before publishing it.

You can generate a preview of the website or content with Sitecore to give you an idea of what it will look like. To access the preview option, click Content Editor then Publish and then choose Preview.

    7. Security

This is one of the most overlooked tools within Sitecore because most people do not think of security when they are delegating tasks. You can set security features for things like approving content before it is published. You can also require certain credentials and passwords when a content manager or editor is opening a certain task.

A content manager can also set up credentials when they have to delegate some work. This makes it easy to keep track of who is accessing what, simply by checking the login information to that specific task or content.

Ready to Apply These Sitecore Tips?

We hope that the Sitecore tips that we shared above will totally transform your efficiency. There is so much on your shoulders as a marketing professional when it comes to delivering the content that users demand. This is why when you learn how to implement Sitecore correctly and use it to the best of its ability you will see incredible results.
