Switching Tyre – All-Season or Winter Tyre?

Whenever you are about to change your tyres or even buy new tyres, the question arises which tyre to buy? Finding the most suitable tyre has been one of the daunting tasks for motorists. Experts suggest choosing the tyres considering different situations like weather changes and road conditions.

But when is the right time to switch or even change your tyers. The best time to switch Tyres Croydon is when your season starts changing. The weather changes throughout the year and getting prepared in advance can be a smart move. Staying safe should be your priority because tyres are supposed to provide you with safety. So fitting the right tyre is important.

Seasonal and all-season tyres are the most commonly used tyres. But it is also essential to choose the right one from seasonal and all-season tyres.

Seasonal tyres are the tyres that are said to be used in particular climatic changes, but your all-season tyres are tyres that are considered to be used in all the seasonal changes. All-season tyres can be used all year round but they do not perform extremely well in winters. So, it is suggested to use winter tyres in extreme weather conditions to maintain the handling stability of your vehicle.

    Comparing All-season and Winter Tyres

Considering the rubber compound of both all-season and winter tyres. All-season tyres are comparatively softer than your winter tyers and due to which they possess better wear-resistant features and durability. Not just this, but the rolling resistance also seems to be decreased with the softer compound. These tyres are made softer to withstand and adapt to different weather conditions. The compound that is used in making all-season tyres actually get hardens fast, so if you driving with all-season tyres, you would have to sacrifice braking stability and handling of the vehicle on the snow-covered road. All-season tyres are quite famous for working extremely well in moderate and high temperatures.

If you consider Winter tyres, they have a harder compound that provides them suitable grip on snow-covered and wet road conditions. They possess better handling and agility for having a comfortable drive in extreme conditions because all-season tyres do not provide a good driving experience in extreme weather conditions.

Unlike all-season tyres, winter tyres cannot be used all year round, they show the best performance only under 7 degrees Celsius. So it is important, you switch to winter tyres when the temperature starts falling under 7 degrees. They tend to remain supple even in temperatures below 0 degrees.

All-season Dunlop Tyres Croydon is a mixture of both summer and winter tyres, they possess features of both the tyres. All-season tyres combine the advantages of both summer and winter tyres since they perform all year. As a result, on both dry and wet surfaces, all-season tyres have a greater braking distance than summer tyres. Even so, the braking distance is less than a winter tyre. In the case of snow, the situation is reversed: while all-season tyres perform admirably on snow, they fall short of winter tyres.

Some countries have moderate climatic changes, in such places you can use all-season tyres throughout the whole year but if you live in places like the UK, with heavy and extreme snowfall you must prefer using winter tyres. When all of the aforementioned points are evident, the only question left is how much you’re willing to spend. If you don’t do these things yourself, all-season tyres will save you money on storage and tyre replacement. Additionally, you will only need to purchase one set of tyres rather than two. All-season tyres are more expensive than seasonal tyres, but you just need one set rather than two. Keep in mind, though, that you’ll have to replace them more frequently.
