    What Causes Burnt Exhaust Valves?

Car maintenance is something you cannot compromise on because it starts developing problems with the engine if left unchecked. Many drivers opt for car services to maintain a great service history and keep up the worth of their car. Every car owner must know the essential auto parts and working systems such as valves and their seals.

    Coming Down to the Question

It is most likely to renew a burnt exhaust valve because they run burning hot than approximately 450 degrees Fahrenheit. One of the common reasons to face this unfortunate issue is the loose or weak seal between the exhaust valve and the valve base or seat. Burnt valves lose their ability to stick or seal properly once the material melts or damages because of the high temperatures. Alternatively, when the seal breaks, it leaks gases. These gases are from the combustion chamber that keeps damaging the valve until it seals up. The gases escape and cause further issues with the valve. The burnt valve seal becomes a high-risk factor for engines however, remapped engines such as Volvo C30 D5 remap might have a different outcome. A standard engine might overheat or take up an imbalanced amount of fuel.

What can be Other Reasons for Burnt Exhaust Valve?

The loose exhaust valve is not always the problem because sometimes, the auto part breaks and leaks, weakens over time or faces pressure problems. The following detail can help you with understanding the common reasons you might face.

High Mileage, Pressure Problems and Deposit Accumulation

Other than a leaking seal of the exhaust valve is the substandard quality of the valve or the fitting problem of the valve. Even if the valve fits over the valve seat but the fitting is not as tight, then hot combustive gases will rush out from the spaces and overheat the surroundings.

Another common reason is when the mileage of the car increases up and the auto parts start ageing. The exhaust valve loses its sealing ability over time, and hydrocarbon deposits and particulates accumulate in the valves. The accumulation of carbon compounds can lead oil to trickle down the melting seal. The valve sticks to the seat, and exhaust emissions start to erode and decay the valve completely.

Depends upon the pressure of the valve seat exerted on the exhaust valve. There are specific pounds of pressure that can equally stick the exhaust valve with the valve seat. 50 pounds more or less can have relatively imbalanced pressure, the engine can start making noise, vibrating, and occasional misfires from time to time if the valve has pressure problems.

What can a Damaged Exhaust Valve Cause?

Multiple engine problems. The carbon buildups, sticky molten valve near the seat or any sort of brokenness and bending can bust the engine. Many drivers feel their car being imposing extra pressure on the engine, hence overheating. Overheating can cause other auto parts working to melt or crumble. The smoke in the exhaust and power loss can be because of the damaged exhaust valve. Many people are not sure what to do to get the engine to stop making noise. Only car owners familiar with the auto parts and techniques to replace the parts are aware of damaged or bent exhaust valves.

    The Bottom Line

Regular car maintenance and service histories can keep your auto parts replaced and updated. Frequent garage checkups from time to time or replacement of specific car parts such as shocks, spark plugs and valves can be useful to avoid unnecessary expenses of car problems. This was all about exhaust valves and their multiple causes that may affect the working of the engine.
