The most important issue in people with braces is oral hygiene and the complete provision of oral care. Regular care both guarantees the health of the teeth and positively affects the success of treatment. Regular tooth brushing greatly facilitates the adaptation to braces. If the teeth and gums are in disrepair, edema causes both bleeding and irritation.

Another issue to take care of when using braces is the difficulty in consuming very hard foods. What should be done in this case is not to chew hard food in one piece, but to chew it by slicing into small pieces and using back teeth.

The removal of the seeds of core foods such as olives and plums is also very important for the effectiveness of the braces. A few days after the orthodontist places the brackets, this situation is accustomed and there is a spontaneous adaptation. The surrounding of the brackets attached to the tooth can also be cleaned with rod-shaped brushes produced specifically for braces.

Your orthodontist will inform you about the size and shape of these specific tooth brushes  Brackets can hurt the cheeks for the first few days and cause irritation. Apart from this, pain and tenderness may be observed. At the end of this period, full adaptation to the braces will be provided.

After a while, you will forget that you have braces, and enjoy the rest of the treatment. With adequate tooth brushing and care, braces help us to smile happily.

The first problem that can be encountered in orthodontic treatment is the irritations that may occur on the first day the brackets are inserted. A regular solution to this case is to apply the orthodontic wax that your orthodontist gave you.

If this wax is placed on the brackets, new irritations are prevented during the healing process and gums will adapt easily. Another method is to use painkillers and tissue damage relief balms sold in pharmacies for this purpose. Pain and discomfort of teeth may also be observed in the first days.

As a result of the pressure applied by the wires, some mediators secreted from periodontium may bring out a toothache. Painkillers other than aspirin can be used at this stage. Aspirin-derived painkillers can slow down tooth movement. You can consult any of your problems to your dental clinic and your orthodontist.
